How to get to Beitostølen

Beitostølen is located at the entrance to Jotunheimen — and is surprisingly easy to get to, whether you're traveling by car or bus. The trip from Oslo only takes around 3.5 hours, and the road all the way to the mountain is both easy and accessible year-round.

By car
Drive to the mountains at your own pace. Beitostølen is located along county road 51 with good road connections from both east and west. From Oslo it takes about 3.5 hours, while the trip from Fagernes takes about 45 minutes. The roads are well maintained and are plowed regularly throughout the winter season.

By bus
If you want to travel by public transport, it is easy to take a bus from Oslo to Fagernes with a direct connection to Beitostølen. The bus routes are well adapted to mountain traffic and make the journey easy — even without a car.

By taxi
For an extra comfortable and flexible journey, you can also use taxis from nearby areas such as Fagernes. Taxis are a good option for those who want a simple door-to-door solution, whether you arrive by bus or plane.

Whether you're planning a weekend trip or a longer stay, the road to the mountain is shorter than many people think.

Welcome to the mountains!
